The Media Art Space (MAS) is a UNC-owned, 24-hour-access facility located in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill on Franklin Street. To ensure the maintenance, safety, and respectful use of the space, all users are required to review and sign this agreement acknowledging the following policies:

Facility Policies

  • Only students currently enrolled in courses held in MAS are permitted to use the facilities. Access is provided via UNC One Card.
  • One Card access will be granted after:
  • this agreement has been signed by the student, and
  • instructors have submitted course rosters to MAS staff for verification.
  • Access permissions vary by course; instructors will inform students which rooms they are authorized to use based on their enrollment.
  • Facilities may only be used for coursework assigned in MAS courses. Any other use is prohibited.
  • All facilities and equipment are the property of UNC and the Department of Communication.
  • After use, all rooms must be reset:
  • close all doors
  • turn off projectors
  • return tables and chairs to their original arrangement.

Computer Labs:

  • Food and drink are prohibited in labs.
  • Downloading or deleting software from lab computers is not allowed.
  • Save all work to personal or external drives; computers may be wiped periodically to maintain performance.
  • Respectful communication and behavior are expected of all users at all times. Disrespectful, disruptive, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.

Failure to adhere to these policies may result in the loss of access to MAS, either temporarily or permanently, at the discretion of the MAS Director based on the severity of the offense.
